UNINI team signed a Protocol of Cooperation with the Mayor of Vinnitsa to roll-out Seed Forum and iHUB activities. Vinnitsa City Councils have approved specific premises that will be provided for 10 years free of charge.
The Feasibility Study for Setting up and Developing iHUBs in Ukraine is finalised. Desk study and consultation process with main stakeholders and partners in Ukraine has been conducted during summer and autumn of 2014. The Study provides an assessment of the economic, political and security environment for the establishment and growth of iHUBs in pre-selected cities in Ukraine.
The iHUB Manual has been designed to enable the iHUB managers and staff to prepare for, set up and successfully operate an iHUB in their regions. It captures the iHUB concept, the iHUB business model and the set up and implementation including day to day operations. It also addresses the issue of sustainability beyond the life-time of the externally donor funded project.
The Seed Forum Starting Point Program is launching in Odessa. Great lectures were held yesterday for students at the Odessa National Maritime University with an aim to motivate, educate and assist students to become entrepreneurs.
A meeting was held with the Governor of Odessa, Mr. Igor Palytsia, to agree on concrete steps for development of Seed Forum and iHUB activities in Odessa.
The Seed Forum Starting Point Program was launched in Lviv with lectures about entrepreneurship for students at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and the Lviv Polytechnical University.
A Cooperation Agreement was signed with Science Park at Kiev Polytechnical Institute today. Science Park “Kyivska Polytechnika” is a form of scientific and research process organization which promotes effective commercialisation of high-tech developments. Today was a signing ceremony of Memorandum of Cooperation with the Lviv City Council represented by Mayor Mr. Andrii Sadovyi. The aim of this cooperation is to establish an iHUB in Lviv by the end of 2015. The parties reaffirmed intentions to implement mutual organizational and informational support in the process for creation, development and operation of the iHUB for innovation-driven entrepreneurs and businesses. Lviv City Council has allocated specific premises that will be provided for 10 years free of charge.

The Norwegian-Ukrainian Business Forum took place today during the official visit of the Prime Minister of Norway to Ukraine. The singing ceremonies of Memorandum of understanding was held with four Universities, namely: Bakul Institute for Superhard Materials, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Kiev National University of Trade and Economics and Lviv Polytechnic National University.
Seed Forum Kiev and the formal opening of iHUB Kiev was a part of the Business Forum. iHUB Kiev was opened by the Norwegian Minister for EU and EEA Affairs, Mr. Vidar Helgesen. At the Seed Forum Investor Conference seven companies presented their pitch and thirty five participants took part in total.
The Cooperation Agreement with V. Bakul Institute for Superhard Materials of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was signed today. The Institute is engaged in the development of processes for production and application of synthetic diamond, cubic boron nitride and other superhard materials, high-density high-tech ceramics, and cemented carbides. First great event in the new premises of Seed Forum iHUB Kiev – the 12th Seed Forum National Pitch Training in Ukraine was attended by more than ten Ukrainian companies. They took part at the investor-ready training programme with the goal to be selected to present in Seed Forums in Kiev, Oslo, London, New York and Singapore.
Meeting with the Rector at Kiev Polytechnic Institute was held today. The main dissuasion was focused on the current situation of commercialisation in Ukraine, opportunities and plans for further activities.
A productive workshop took place at Kiev National University of Technologies and Design today. The main focus of discussion was about their needs, but also about opportunities and strategy for commercialisation of technology.
The workshop about opportunities and strategy for commercialisation of technology was held today at V. Bakul Institute for Superhard Materials of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The institute’s needs and plans and possible cooperation with the UNINI project was discussed.
At the new address, Ribalska Street 22 Kiev, iHUB Kiev is now extending to 136 work stations. Moving into this much bigger premise in the Kiev City Centre took place in just 2 weeks. iHUB Kiev is and remains the main innovation center in Ukraine.
On 26 June 2014 a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Odessa Regional State Administration was signed under patronage of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Ukraine. The goal was to combine efforts and use all available opportunities to develop small innovative businesses and the creation of modern innovation infrastructure, improvement of the investment attractiveness and realisation of the full innovation potential of economy of Ukraine.
It was a real pleasure to meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway, Mr. Børge Brende, at Opera Hotel on Saturday 24th May 2014. On this occasion a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Parliament of Ukraine, Seed Forum Norway Foundation, and Seed Forum Ukraine Foundation was signed, with an aim to work together in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship in Ukraine.
